White water rafting in Kali Gandaki river is a magnificent trip to all rafters from novice to the most intrepid of adventurers. This rafting trip begins from starting site at Nayapul and ends at Ramdighat with a drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu or a flight from Pokhara to Kathmandu. The river trip takes you to steep canyon overhung with verdant foliage and punctuated by small waterfalls and side streams in counterpoint to rapids providing class III to IV+ runs. As you descend through verdant rainforests, you witness unique wildlife, amazing ethno-cultural heritages, fascinating village settlements and picturesque landscape. In a nutshell, this river trip not only quenches your thirst for adventure but also bonds you with nature and equally makes you culture-sensitive.
Itinerary 1:
Rafting 04 days (Kathmandu-Nayapul-Pokhara)
Day 01:
Drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. You can also fly from Kathmandu to Pokhara.
Day 02:
Drive to from Pokhara to Nayapul and overnight camping at river side
After having breakfast, you take an early morning drive to Nayapul for almost three hours. After having packed all necessary rafting equipment and receiving a thorough safety narration you begin your rafting journey from Nayapul. As you maneuver along the deepest gorge of the world, you navigate with our professional river guide a bumpy section of Class III rapids amidst a natural showcase of deep-wooded canyons, warm waters, sparkling side creeks and spectacular glimpses of wildlife. As you approach Modi Dovan, you rest the trip to a halt for camping. You embrace the most pleasurable moments while camping under an open sky of sparkling stars with a camp fire lulls you to sleep as you dream of the second day on the Gorge section.
Day 03:
Raft up to Mirmighat
The trip further proceeds towards Mirmighat. Paddling along the majestic waves and rapids, you raft past surreal vistas of snow-capped peaks, lush forests, unique bird life and exotic animal species. Finally, the trip ends with our arrangement for overnight camping by the riverside.
Day 04:
Raft up to Ramdighat and drive to Pokhara. Drive from Pokhara to Kathmandu or you can fly from Pokhara to Kathmandu.
On this day, you resume your rafting journey along the challenging and demanding river. Basking in the grandeur of nature, you cross boulder-strewn whitewaters followed by calm pools, interspersed with frothing pulse-quickening rapid. Eventually, after rafting for two hours, you drive to Pokhara from where you either drive back to Kathmandu or fly back to Kathmandu.
Itinerary 2:
Rafting 04 days (Beni-Pokhara)
Day 01:
At around 7/8 am, you drive for around 3-4 hrs to the put-in point near Beni. Throughout this drive you have stunning views of the Annapurna and Dhaulagiri peaks as well as the sacred Machapuchare. Upon arrival, you unload all the equipment and you will receive a full safety briefing. Have lunch and then the guide will take you to the river starting point ready to begin your exciting 3 days raft trip. First day you begin with some class III rapids this is a warm up for the team, after 10/15 minutes you will be encountering 2 big class 4 rapids i.e. ‘Small Brother’ and ‘Big Brother’. Your guide will be making you work hard at doing exercises to work as a team maneuvering the raft efficiently. After scouting the rapid, the safety kayaks will go first then the raft. Soon after encountering these two big rapids you will reach the Modi Khola confluence where you will choose the beach for the evening campsite.
Day 02:
Once the rafts are packed you start down the river for a day mixed with adrenaline calm and spectacular scenery including views of Annapurna 1 and Himachuli. You will tackle many class III sections and the challenging class IV named REFUND. This section of river is abundant with vines, wildlife and lush vegetation hanging from the cliff faces. Your campsite is below the village of Purti Ghat.
Day 03:
Soon after being back on the water you reach the holy village of Seti Beni. The river has deposited a house size boulder in the confluence with a smaller tributary. Since confluence is considered holy places in the Hindu religion, this boulder has become an important shrine to the local river people. There is usually a great audience to watch and listen to the spectacle as each team negotiates the rapid that has formed around this holy place. Not long after this it is time for the journey to end. You load up the gear and prepare for the bus journey back to Pokhara.
