Bhotekoshi River

Liquid rush is really Bhotekoshi!  As steep as it gets with constant rapids, this two-day trip is a full body workout and the skill and determination of the paddle crew is tested to the limit. The Bhotekoshi, roughly translated as 'river from Tibet', although little more than a mountain stream, has one of the steepest gradients of any raft able river in Nepal. Snow Giants loom over as the clean, fresh water roars and dodges its way through narrow canyons and the remnants of a huge, Giants' boulder-tossing contest! Shooting down glistening shoots into bubbling, frothing pools, the raft twists, turns and plunges to the exhilarated shrieks of the crew.

The Bhotekoshi is one of the most technical rivers in Nepal, providing continuous, challenging rapids from start to finish. It has been likened to a pinball machine and you're the ball, which is certainly how it feels, with one intense rapid after another. It is exhilarating and fun and we just love running it! Full of nasty drops, pour over and huge bumping boulders; with an experienced guide it is a great first river for beginners, while having more than enough to challenge and thrill an experienced rafter! Our guides know exactly where to put the raft to get the most out of this river and to avoid spills.

Day 01:

You drive north towards the Tibetan border. This journey passes through picturesque mountain villages following the river north. You drive through Dhulikhel and if it is clear day you can have a splendid glance of the good range of the The Himalayas. You can relax for sometime at Dolalghat and later move ahead to your put in point. Upon your arrival at put in point, your guide will narrate the safety aspects of the trip. You jump straight into grade 4 rapids like Gerbil in the plumbing and Frog in the Blender. By afternoon you will be wide eyed and exhilarated. After you finish, you exit and the bus drives you back up stream to your campsite. You make camp under the stars on a wide sandy shoulder.

Day 02:

This day you wake up to the sound of the roaring river and a choice of a hot or cold breakfast. Today you thrill and spill your way down numerous drops and eddies, bump around boulders, occasionally getting stuck on them. Overhead hang footbridges where the local children crowd to see the crazy river runners shriek past. There are boulder flows with interesting and testing rapids and the occasional calm pool for calm reflection. Then you enter a narrow canyon and on to the Midnight Special, a gun barrel of a rapid which slams you up against a wall. Next you have The Great Wall, Liquid Bliss and the long, hard class 4 plus rapid John Holmes. One last rapid Dazed and Confused - Fake left, paddle right - and you are through! Finally your trip ends though you wish more and more.
